Cryl Masson is a Parisian photographer, co-founder and artistic director at Studio White. His Flash portfolio is built with great taste, having in mind at all times that the navigation through the sections shouldn’t distract the visitor’s attention from his beautiful photographs. You will like it because it’s subtle and elegant.

1. Tell everybody a little bit about yourself. Who you are, where you are from?

My name is Bogdan Nitica and I am from Romania, Iasi. I have been working under the FlashXpert name since 2008.

2.  How did you first get involved in the web design and development industry?

I started working with Flash in 2003 as a freelancer, but the enthusiasm came long before, ever since high school, when I programmed my first algorithms. During the past 6 years I’ve been employed as an AS Programmer/Flash Developer at 3 top local companies.

3. What made you decide to sell files on FlashComponents.net?

From the beginning FlashComponets.net had an ascending number of visitors and at this time I can say that this number is huge. Updating the products is very easy, we can choose our own price and new files are approved very quickly.

4. Do you prefer to work alone or in a team?

Definitely, I prefer working in a team.

5. Where do you go for inspiration? What blogs/ websites do you read regularly?

The main inspiration comes from what is around us. Navigating on the Internet gives us a lot of ideas, but there is no specific place that inspires us.  Some of the sites that I visit regularly are: Kirupa.com, TechCrunch.com, Mashable.com, TheFWA.com.

6.  How do you typically start a new project?

The first thing that we do is to write down the list of features and to decide which are customizable and which are not. The next step is to make the fla file and to declare the AS classes.

7. Which would you say is the best file from your portfolio on FlashComponents.net?

8. We noticed your portfolio includes mostly video players. Is this your area of specialty or are you planning on developing other types of Flash files?

We are planning to develop a lot of other components including: media galleries and site templates.

9. What are a few of your favorite development tools and how do they help you get the job done?

For writing our code we are using FDT. I consider that the Eclipse is the strongest IDE and it’s great that a plug-in for editing AS code exists. The second environment is Flash Builder,  again the Eclipse influence.

10. What skills and technologies are you most interested in improving or learning?

Flash, Flex (Flash Builder) and AIR.

11. What are your thoughts on the future of Flash?

Definitely the future stands in mobile applications. Despite Apple saying “no” to Flash Player, there is still a big market gap that Flash will fill: there is a great opportunity for Flash on mobile devices starting with Android and finishing with Symbian. I can’t wait to develop our first applications in AIR for Android.

12. Can you share some of your tips& tricks that have helped you increase your sales on FlashComponents.net?

I think the best thing that increased our sales was the number of features that our products have and the periodically updates.

13. Do you participate in any web development conferences?

We don’t participate on web conferences but periodically we look at Adobe TV and search videos that explain new Flash features or other cool products.

14. What are you working on now?

We started working on some top notch XML Site Templates. The first template will be released by the end of June.

Me: I use a MAC.

Client: That is a problem. Do you have access to a PC? I am not a supporter of Apple products.

Me: No, I don’t have access to a PC, but this will have little to no effect on the work itself.

Client: I am a Christian and Apple products are sinful, I do not want our website to be created by a product made by this corrupt group. You need only look at their logo, an apple with a bite taken from it. Do you not know the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? If I allowed you to create my website on a MAC I would be just like Adam, taking a bite of the forbidden fruit.
