1. Tell everybody a little bit about yourself. Who you are, where you are from?

Hi everyone, my name is Andrey and I am the project manager of a little design studio – Artin2ition.com. We are located in Nikolaev, Ukraine (pretty well known city in the Internet, huh?) and we provide Flash development services for some really big design companies. Content management systems for Flash sites are pretty popular at the moment, and that’s what we are good at.

2.  How did you first get involved in the web design and development industry?

Well, it’s a really long story of experiments and failures. I began with an affiliate selling templates through the network of my websites. After a while, the competition between affiliates and web design providers increased and I just decided to get rid of all that boring stuff and develop my own product which (as I supposed) would be really popular.

3. What made you decide to sell files on FlashComponents.net?

The main reason is that FlashComponents.net is really popular and has a high traffic and good Google ranking. If you have good product it’s easy to make cash here. I sell stuff through different websites and can compare. I would say that FC is the friendliest company both to customers and vendors.

4. Do you prefer to work alone or in a team?

Working alone is much easier (less chances for failure) but if you develop serious product you need reliable and professional team. I am lucky enough to have one.

5. Where do you go for inspiration? What blogs/ websites do you read regularly?

My favorite website is www.thefwa.com because it’s a good source of inspiration and innovations.

6.  How do you typically start a new project?

I just put myself into my “client’s shoes” and think what would make my life better and what would keep the visitor on my site. And I advise all developers consider customers needs before writing any single line of the code.

7. Which would you say is the best file from your portfolio on FlashComponents.net?

The best file is still not created.

8. We noticed your portfolio includes mostly Flash templates. Is this your area of specialty or are you planning on developing other types of Flash files?

That’s true. I think it’s the influence of my templates reseller background. No, I’m just kidding. I believe that completed product is much better than “Advanced XML Dynamic Premium Something”. For example, I can clearly imagine how average customer uses my template for his website. But what he does with 3d XML accordion menu.  I am not quite sure.

9. What are a few of your favorite development tools and how do they help you get the job done?

It’s Adobe Flash CS4. God bless Adobe for creating it :-)

10. What skills and technologies are you most interested in improving or learning?

It’s definitely Adobe AIR. But I believe it would be easier to hire someone instead of learning, I am getting too lazy.

11. What are your thoughts on the future of Flash?

Much depends upon Adobe policy. If we are going to pay a dime every time we say AIR or Flash, I will just buy VisualStudio and start developing Silverlight websites. I am sure that very soon Microsoft will fix all issues with Silverlight and it’s going to be a brilliant product. Also many “Flash effects” can be created using jQuery JS library, and all you need to modify jQuery template is a notepad that costs far less than $800.

12. Can you share some of your tips& tricks that have helped you increase your sales on FlashComponents.net?

It’s simple. Beautiful websites have great sales, dull copies never sell.

13. Do you participate in any web development conferences?

No, I wish I had more spare time for it.

14. What are you working on now?

At moment we are rebuilding AuroraFlash (one of the templates based on current version is presented at FC website) core and make it more understandable for less experienced Flash developers. In a month or 2 we are planning to launch it as a platform allowing flash developers and web designers create cool flash websites with minimal coding.
