DesignForLife

1. Tell everybody a little bit about yourself. Who you are, where you are from?

Hi! My name is Safa Haliloglu. You might know me as “DesignForLife” though. I’m a student at the university and in my third year. I’m 23 years old and live in Ankara, Turkey.

2.  How did you first get involved in the web design and development industry?

About 2 years ago, I began selling Flash products to make use of my boring lessons. I had previously used other programming languages like Assembly, PIC and C++. Nowadays, I’m very pleased with my job. My nickname is DesignForLife because I love web design.

3. What made you decide to sell files on FlashComponents.net?

I was referred to FC by FlashBlue. I find the opportunities on FC are better than on the other sales sites.

4. Do you prefer to work alone or in a team?

I have been working alone for two years. However, I do receive and use advice from a few customers and friends.

5. Where do you go for inspiration? What blogs/ websites do you read regularly?

That’s a difficult question because I literally haven’t found the answer yet! Generally, I follow the FlashComponents.net Blog. My inspiration is the FWA website and I examine their site every day.

6.  How do you typically start a new project?

During the weekends, I enjoy being creative and building on old ideas and following through with new ones.  Generally, I enjoy the whole creative process.

7. Which would you say is the best file from your portfolio on FlashComponents.net?

I would like to say all of them, but if I had to pick one, it would be AS3 Deeplinking Photographer XML Website.  If you are wondering why this particular project, please see the following video:

8. We noticed your portfolio includes a lot of Flash templates. Would you say this is your area of specialty?

Yes, I usually design Flash templates. Moreover, I design different modules that can be used everywhere. This way, I respond to many of the requests.

9. What are a few of your favorite development tools and how do they help you get the job done?

I’m using Adobe products at this time. I prefer Caurina Tweener instead of Adobe Tween for faster visual effects. And I use a program that’s called SWF Encrypt to protect the SWF files.

10. What skills and technologies are you most interested in improving or learning?

I spend a lot of time using Adobe and I would like to improve my skills in graphic design.  I am also very good at programming.

11. What are your thoughts on the future of Flash?

Flash is excellent but what will come in the future, no one knows.

12. Can you share some of your tips& tricks that have helped you increase your sales on FlashComponents.net?

Customer service, customer satisfaction, and education.  All problems are solved ASAP so the customer becomes familiar with the component and he knows that any new components will work and become easier for him to work with.  This will bring customers back and those customers, through word of mouth, will bring new ones.

13. Do you participate in any web development conferences?

From time to time, on Adobe Flash web design, but mainly I like to come up with my own creative ideas.

14. Can we take a peak at the file you’re working on now?

Right now I am not working on anything because of University exams.  I will begin new projects soon.

15. Tell people where you like to hang out.
